Post-Graffiti Abstract Expressionism: Bridging the Gap Between
Urban Graffiti Art and Contemporary Abstract Expressionism

I created these by hand tagging the name of every person that lost their life on 9/11. In a style reminicent of my work from about 8 years ago in black, white or silver, and on and on with the layering... By no way does this mock up reveal the saturation of writting. I had one of my students make this mock up of how I envision the experience. Each tower is made up of 3 canvases, 6 feet X 6 feet - so over all each tower is 6 feet wide X 18 feet high X 4 inches deep. I am never going to reveal detailed photos of this piece, someone is going to have to trust me on this one. I've only had the opportunity to assemble it once, and it was a pretty heavy experience for me.

Black & Pink Kick

Funny how things progress. Couple of weeks ago I received a request to do a black and pink combo on a canvas. Now I can't stop using the damn color combo. I'm on a spring cleaning kick at the studio, this is where I "try" to exhaust all the old paste ups and crap to make way for new stuff. It makes for some real fun. I love looking at these later and finding all the hidden treasures in the surface.

Make No Mistake.
Posted: April 19, 2008
As most of my supporters and fans know I've been a bit busy lately making
prints and limited edition canvas series with some of my more representational
imagery. Which is all fine and dandy because it's giving be some cash
to put back into my work (and get out of debt) but at times it does
stifle my creative juices. Finding the balance between making money
and "flipping
out" on
canvas is tricky because sometimes you get side tracked and find yourself
in a frenzy trying to crank out the next best thing that will sell,
which is something I tried getting away from when I painted "Birth
of the Forth Valley". I guess it's a vicous circle no artist
can escape. But MAKE NO MISTAKE, the blurry guy you see below is who
I am.
Back to Basics.

This morning I noticed this beautiful crack in the sidewalk and realized
I'm not going to able to do this forever. It sucks that theres a number
that exists out there that defines just how many pieces the world will
see from me. So today I got back to basics.
